We’re looking for a Retail Media Business Development Manager to join the Halfords Retail Media Network team. We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about maximising the value of supplier-funded advertising and knows how to get the right messages to the right people at the right time. This is a newly defined role with real influence, giving you the opportunity to shape our strategy and make a measurable impact across Halfords’ channels.
Your vision will be to create a data-driven marketplace linking brands (stocked or otherwise) directly to high-intent shoppers, fuelling sustainable incremental revenue for Halfords, and unparalleled customer insights for mutual growth (Halfords & Partner Brand). You’ll be responsible for building and defining the proposition for Halfords with clear commercial targets to achieve and ambitious growth requirements.
You will have access to a 6m strong membership (Halfords Motoring Club) and the wider Halfords Customer base (16m VRN's and up to 30m UK drivers) and will be the driving force in monetising the non-endemic brand opportunity.
Key responsibilities:- Support the advancement of capabilities and understanding of the evolving Retail Media landscape across the business.
- You will be a key stakeholder in developing the vision, strategy and on-going strategy of our retail media solution.
- Work with key internal stakeholders in helping develop key Client presentations; bringing to life our media offering in a relevant and tailored way.
- Supporting new campaign development, pitching ideas and presenting campaign strategies.
- Collaborating with the Retail Media Campaign Manager in driving team performance, mentoring junior colleagues, and deputising where needed.
- Managing and growing supplier relationships, working to maximise media investment returns.
- You will work closely with our tech/transformation teams to develop the proposition, and the technical capabilities of our platform to build towards a best-in-market proposition.
- You will be required to understand partner requirements, Halfords commercial and brand goals, and to connect them with a clear sales pipeline, and a road map of campaigns and 'product' solutions - staying close to new technologies – to enhance our proposition and deliver mutual benefits/ROI.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with Retail and Garages Squads, our digital/ecommerce teams, and channel/brand teams to align media with broader retail campaigns and deliver bespoke activity.
- We’re looking for someone who understands media, thrives in a fast-paced retail or agency environment and has a passion for sales, strategy and execution.
- You should be confident building and delivering a pipeline, managing campaigns from concept to delivery, and comfortable working with suppliers, media owners, and internal stakeholders alike.
- Established experience in a media sales environment with experience of commercial media networks (for retail or garages would be a bonus).
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with confidence presenting ideas and campaign results.
- A collaborative and proactive mindset, with a commercial focus on ROI.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. A data-driven, analytical approach to campaign reporting and optimisation.
- Leadership potential and experience managing or mentoring junior team members.
- Strong Client Servicing experience / expertise.
- Excellent understanding and experience of working across key instore, ecommerce and digital media channels. Experience managing multiple media channels and supplier relationships.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects.
- Adaptability to work in a fast-evolving retail media landscape.
- Experience presenting to and influencing brand partners or clients.
- Aware of emerging advertising technologies and platforms that enhance media propositions.
