Everyone brings their individual knowledge and experience to work every day, working as one team to keep things moving smoothly.

Please note: This position is initially a 6-month Fixed Term Contract.

As a Transformation Project Manager at Halfords, you will play a key role in delivering a high-profile programme of change focused on improving the customer experience across our garages business. Sitting within the Group Transformation & Change team, you will take ownership of one large or multiple medium-sized projects, driving delivery from definition through to implementation. You are people-focused and thrive on building strong relationships, bringing stakeholders with you on a transformation journey.

You are comfortable managing complexity and pace, and you know how to bring structure to change. You will own project plans, RAID logs, budgets and governance, while working closely with senior stakeholders across operations, finance, technology and people teams. Whether you are chairing project forums, tracking benefits, or escalating risks, you will keep momentum and ensure delivery stays on track.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced Project Manager who thrives on stakeholder engagement and delivery discipline. You will operate across both waterfall and agile environments, adapt to ambiguity, and play a visible role in a critical transformation programme that is shaping the future of Halfords.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of one large or multiple medium-sized transformation projects within the garages portfolio.
  • Own and maintain project plans, milestones, actions, RAID logs, and governance documentation.
  • Chair regular project and stakeholder meetings, providing clear updates on progress, risks, dependencies, and decisions.
  • Proactively manage risks, issues, and interdependencies, escalating where required to protect delivery.
  • Track project costs, budgets, and benefits realisation in partnership with Finance and project sponsors.
  • Ensure project activity aligns to agreed transformation frameworks, standards, and best practice.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams across Operations, Technology, Finance, Property, and People.
  • Provide clear, concise reporting through dashboards and updates for senior leaders and steering groups.
  • Support change adoption by maintaining visibility of key people, communication, and readiness milestones.
  • Drive projects through to closure, completing lessons learned and formal close-down documentation.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, supporting and advising peers across the Transformation team.
About you:
  • Proven experience delivering complex projects within a transformation or change environment with tangible results.
  • Strong track record of managing stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders, and bringing people with you through change.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage risks, issues, dependencies, budgets, and delivery plans with confidence.
  • Comfortable working across multiple workstreams in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
  • Experience operating across both Waterfall and Agile delivery approaches, or the ability to adapt quickly between them would be desirable.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Confident communicator, able to present clear, concise updates and challenge constructively when required.
  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset, resilience, and a focus on delivery outcomes.
  • Experience within retail, multi-site, or operationally complex organisations is advantageous.

A fair and competitive salary evaluated against market data, annual discretionary bonus scheme, pension, life assurance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave.

Commitment and dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We help you to own and grow your potential so you can be at your best in your current role and to support your future career aspirations.

We offer hybrid working with a blend of working in our Support Centre and from home. You will have access to a wealth of employee discounts across the Halfords suite of products and services.

Wellbeing and inclusion are at the heart of our colleague experience. We offer resources and ongoing support to enhance your wellbeing at work and active Colleague Networks supporting inclusion initiatives across Halfords.
