At Halewood Artisanal Spirits, we are passionate about crafting and distributing premium spirits brands across the UK and international markets. As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a proactive and experienced Credit Controller to join our finance team and play a key role in managing cash flow and customer relationships.

The Role

This role is responsible for managing a £10–£15 million sales ledger, working closely with one other Credit Controller. You will take ownership of key accounts, including major UK supermarket retailers, ensuring timely cash collection and effective resolution of queries and deductions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and take ownership of a £10–£15m ledger, ensuring prompt collection of outstanding debt
  • Build strong relationships with key customers, including major grocery multiples
  • Proactively chase overdue invoices and reduce aged debt
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies efficiently
  • Manage and process deductions, disputes, and claims via supermarket portals (e.g. Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda)
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to resolve invoice and delivery queries
  • Accurately post and allocate incoming payments
  • Prepare and present regular aged debt reports to management
  • Assist with setting credit limits and monitoring customer credit risk
  • Support month-end processes relating to accounts receivable

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Credit Controller, ideally within FMCG, drinks, or consumer goods
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP (essential)
  • Experience working with major UK supermarket portals and processes
  • Experience managing large, complex ledgers (£10m+)
  • Confident handling deductions, disputes, and retailer-specific requirements
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a small team
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Experience working with UK grocery multiples
  • Knowledge of EDI invoicing and retailer compliance requirements
