Overview
We are recruiting for a Looked After Children Coordinator to join our dedicated team at Halesowen College. This role is focused on addressing the needs of students who are looked after by local authorities. You will work closely with Local Authority Virtual Heads, social workers, carers, and learners—building positive relationships and providing targeted intervention and support. The goal is to increase the life chances of looked after young people and ensure early identification of those at risk of disengaging or becoming NEET.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored intervention and support for looked after learners
- Build effective partnerships with carers, social workers, Virtual School Heads, and local authorities
- Monitor progress and work collaboratively to support educational achievement and well-being
- Act quickly to identify and support learners at risk of dropping out or becoming NEET
- Champion safeguarding, inclusion, and the learner\’s voice
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience in working with young people, parents/carers/families in an education, social care, or voluntary setting
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and responsibilities
- Experience in co-ordinating and liaising with external agencies such as Virtual Schools, Social Workers, and Local Authorities
