Reporting To: Head of NPD
Hales Group are happy to be working with our client based in Eye for a Quality/Specifications Technologist! This is a fantastic role for someone in Quality to come in and work with a newly established team, working with new products and showing their passion for food, with potential scope to develop themselves.
Salary - Negotiable, depending on experience.
Hours - Monday to Friday 8.00am till 4.30pm
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Works with all customers across all categories
- Presents new products to Head of NPD to gain agreement from customer development and buying teams
- Scopes, develops and sells in new concepts and ideas
- Has key input into critical paths from concept to launch
- Inputs into site management
- Attends customer NPD submissions. Prepare concept samples, supporting paperwork and will cook and “sell” products at the submissions
- Attends weekly NPD meeting to ensure that all actions are completed on time, presenting all relevant information.
- Communicate with Head of NPD and customers
- Formulates and implements critical paths
- Plan, organise and control resources to deliver concepts to an agreed quality and timescale
- Responsible for developing commercially viable concepts to maintain a creative catalogue of products, with all products meeting target margins
- Follow company Food Safety and Quality procedures.
- Ensure the Company’s Health and Safety policies and procedures are always followed
- Implement and maintain Good Manufacturing Practices throughout the NPD process
- Responsible for general upkeep of development kitchen to BRC standards.
- Ensure that commercial, operations and technical teams have all the relevant information for product launches and to provide support throughout the launch
- Responsible for trials and product testing in the kitchen and factory.
- Oversees Internal and customer pre-productions
- Monitor quality of new and existing products and manage benchmarking sessions at the same time as maintaining awareness of relevant retailer ranges.
- Work closely with the Head of NPD to ensure all products are compliant to Food Safety
- Ensure all samples are packed and presented well so customers receive them in good condition
- Responsible for all new product concept development, both proactive to drive new sales as well as responding to customer briefs.
Key Attributes:
- Experience in working in a product development team, preferably within a food ingredients industry
- Minimum of 2 years working in a development function
- A flair and genuine interest in food and new product development
- Effective communication skills and ability to compile meaningful and accurate presentations
- Proficient in MS Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Flexible approach to work hours
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels
- Valid driving licence
