Income Recovery Officer£30,000 – £32,000 per annumMonday – FridayPermanentBury St Edmunds On behalf of our client based near Bury St Edmunds, we are searching for an Income Recovery Officer to join their welcoming team. The successful candidate will ensure early intervention to prevent financial difficulties, collaborate with support agencies, and apply legal processes effectively. A recognised Housing Qualification is desirable but not required. Due to the nature of this position, a driver’s licence and access to own vehicle is essential. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Taking a proactive approach to dealing with customers
- Recovering overdue payments and prevent debt escalation
- Collaborating with support services for welfare and debt advice
- Assessing finances to create realistic repayment plans
- Monitoring key accounts, to ensure maintenance of accurate records
- Addressing tenancy breaches through referrals and collaboration
- Preparing pre-court case files to meet legal requirements
- Drafting and process legal enforcement documents
- Representing the organisation in court, securing orders and agreements
- Challenging court decisions to ensure fair outcomes
- Overseeing the recovery process, ensuring ethical evictions
- Guiding customers through legal cases, directing them to support
- Advising on litigation procedures for colleagues and customers
- Fostering collaboration and performance through coaching and support
Key Skills:
- At least two years' experience in social housing roles
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- In-depth knowledge of budgeting, debt management, welfare reform, and benefit regulations
- Thorough understanding of housing law, legislation, and possession grounds
- Extensive court representation experience, including case law and legal protocols
- Skilled in court paper administration, report writing, and witness statements
- Excellent communication skills
- Highly organised with strong time management and prioritisation abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and in-house systems
- Recognised Housing Qualification is desirable
