Assistant Accountant
Salary: Β£30,000 per annum + performance-related bonus
Location: Office-based
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Are you an organised and detail-focused finance professional looking to develop your accounting career? We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join a growing and successful business, supporting a busy finance function across purchase ledger, reporting, reconciliations, payroll support, and month-end processes.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure within a supportive team environment, with training provided and opportunities for professional development.
This position is being recruited on a temporary to permanent contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices, credit notes, and payments
- Maintain accurate purchase ledger records and supplier accounts
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve account queries
- Process and review employee expenses and company credit card transactions
- Complete bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Assist with month-end activities, including accruals and prepayments
- Support the preparation of management accounts
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns
- Assist with payroll processing and P11D administration
- Support year-end accounting activities and audits
About You
- Previous experience in an accounts, finance, or assistant accountant role
- Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical accuracy
- Well-organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Confident working independently and as part of a team
- Experience with Sage 200 would be advantageous but is not essential
- AAT qualification or accountancy studies would be beneficial
