In this role you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of consumer, sensory and behaviour science research projects across all stages of the new product innovation process, from early-stage qualitative exploration research to iterative prototype testing to prototype validation quantitative studies within R&D. Please note there are multiple opportunities available within the R&D Consumer Science team:
  • EMEA-LATAM R&D - Explore how consumer science fuels product innovation in our Health & Wellness products across diverse cultures and markets—from Europe to Africa and Latin America.
  • Future Horizons R&D – Support consumer and product research for global cross-category early/upstream science and technologies as well as helping to drive programs for capability development, R&D/CSPX operations and compliance.
  • Global Oral Health R&D – Support consumer and product research within Haleon’s largest category, working on innovations that power some of the most trusted and scientifically advanced brands in the world.
R&D Consumer Science Industrial Placement: Key Responsibilities
  • Work on a wide range of consumer, sensory, behaviour research projects across the Consumer Healthcare categories – Oral Care, Over The Counter (OTC) and Wellness (depending on the role).
  • Ensure all studies are completed according to relevant SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and compliance requirements, including documenting all compliance requirements in the online study management system.
  • Designing and executing consumer research studies, leveraging the appropriate methodologies (qualitative/quantitative/hybrid) to deliver the business objective of the research.
  • Engage with people both internally and externally.
  • Working with key stakeholders to get consumer studies approved. Managing the timelines and communications with research agencies on critical study steps such as release/shipment of test samples, recruitment of consumers, fieldwork etc.
Education Requirements:

Currently studying an Undergraduate Degree in: Science, in particular Food / Health Science or Sensory & Consumer Science or Psychology. Basic working knowledge on Statistical Analysis is preferable. If you are studying for your Undergraduate Degree you must be in your 2nd year of study (England) or 3rd year of study (Scotland) and seeking to complete a year in industry in partnership with your university. Please ensure the role is suitable for your placement year.

  • Hirevue One-Way Video Interview – if selected you receive a link to complete an one-way video interview focusing on your motivation for joining Haleon and what transferrable skills you will bring to the role. This will be screened by the Early Talent Team.
  • Interview – if selected you will be invited to attend a virtual interview; The interview will consist of a competency-based interview and may include a case study/technical exercise.
  • Offer – candidates will receive an outcome within 2 weeks following interview.
