About the role: We have established a Supply Chain Planning Centre of Excellence (CoE) to drive enhancements in our supply chain planning. Our focus is on achieving operational excellence, optimising inventory, boosting customer satisfaction and gaining competitive advantage within our Business Units and Planning Service Centres (PSC). This CoE transcends mere process standardisation and incremental improvement. It is dedicated to fostering innovation and exploring new technologies.
The Scheduling Business Process Expert supports the Global Scheduling Process Owner in designing, proving and deploying the global production scheduling process.
Key responsibilities:
- The role covers the conversion of the master production schedule into an executable detailed schedule: line loading, sequencing and changeover optimisation, campaign structures, frozen horizon and schedule stability, and the interface into shop floor execution.
- Supporting production scheduling process design based on daily data analysis and KPI dashboards, covering line loading, sequencing and changeover optimisation, campaign and wheel structures, and short horizon rescheduling.
- Ensuring adherence to scheduling principles, guidelines and process, including the frozen and firm horizon definition, the rules for breaking the frozen period and the standard escalation when the schedule cannot absorb a change.
- Defining the handover standard from master production scheduling into detailed scheduling, and from detailed scheduling into shop floor execution.
- Maintaining process documentation, RACI and standard operating procedures for the scheduling discipline.
- Supporting the Global Scheduling Process Owner in defining Daily Management Standards (DMS) and Daily Direction Setting (DDS) for the scheduling discipline.
- Establishing the scheduling related scorecard and its associated KPIs.
- Supporting root cause analysis on KPI performance and translating findings into specific process, parameter or capability actions.
- Driving improvement in data quality in cooperation with related internal and external teams.
- Assisting Change Impact Assessment (CIA), training development and documentation in cooperation with internal and external partners.
Main competences:
- Deep working knowledge of production scheduling: finite scheduling logic, sequencing and changeover optimisation, campaign and wheel design, frozen horizon management.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Expertise in process design, Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement approaches.
- Able to plan, sequence and land deliverables within a programme structure.
- Experience and capability in guiding multi-national and cross-functional teams.
- Good communication and team-oriented skills.
Experience needed:
- Substantial experience (typically six years or more) in production scheduling or site planning within a multi-site manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with an advanced scheduling or optimisation solution.
- Practical understanding of manufacturing performance systems.
- Proven experience in process design, simplification, standardisation, alignment and roll out across multiple sites.
- Experience of the pharmaceutical, consumer goods or FMCG sector is preferred.
Qualifications:
- University degree (BSc or equivalent) in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional supply chain certification such as APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP is desirable.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
