The Process and Mechanical Engineering Manager is the EMEA technical authority for process and mechanical engineering. This role is accountable for the process safety and machinery safety high severity engineering risks, and for defining and ensuring compliance with Haleon facilities and utilities design standards. The manager co-develops and implements global strategies, policies, training and tools, and identifies, assesses and mitigates process and machinery safety risks.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the functional strategy for Process and Mechanical Engineering across EMEA.
  • Develop functional plans and drive strategic implementation to reduce EHS and business risk, build capability and improve business performance.
  • Ensure the EMEA manufacturing network invests in, maintains, and operates process and mechanical engineering infrastructure to protect people, facilities, and business.
  • Build and develop site based talent, foster cross functional and global networks, and partner with external experts and audit firms.
  • Design, develop, and deploy global standards for process engineering, facility and utility design, and machinery safety across OU, QSC, R&D and Commercial locations.
  • Lead regional engineering audits to ensure compliance with internal standards, external regulations, and effective risk management.
  • Influence site and OU leaders to deliver remediation actions, continuous improvement, and reduced EHS and business risk.
  • Own execution of design guides and global specification standards.
  • Create and drive strategic implementation through operational plans for process safety and machinery safety improvement, enhancing resilience of site infrastructure and utilities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years' senior leadership experience managing process or mechanical engineering systems in a manufacturing setting, ideally across geographically dispersed facilities.
  • Expertise in the critical impact of process and mechanical systems and infrastructure lifecycle management.
  • Significant experience with facility and utility equipment in an FMCG or similar environment, including machinery safety standards and process/mechanical design specifications.
  • Track record of driving change programmes and partnering cross functionally.
  • Demonstrated ability to build capability and develop others through coaching, mentoring and structured learning programmes.
  • Strong data driven decision making, prioritisation and resource allocation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and leveraging value under procurement contracts.
  • Preferred Chartered engineer status (IMechE or equivalent) and/or Certified Energy Manager qualification.
  • High learning agility, particularly regarding sustainability and emerging industry trends.
