The role partners with central data teams, enterprise architecture, quality, vendors, and internal technical teams to modernize lab platforms, strengthen data integrity, and enable advanced analytics, automation, AI/ML, and GenAI use cases where appropriate.

You are recognised as the go-to leader and trusted advisor for laboratory technology within Global R&D—removing blockers, aligning business and technical teams, and adapting continuously to meet the needs of scientists, lab operations, and quality stakeholders while delivering value to Haleon.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technology Strategy & Enablement: Build strong domain knowledge across laboratory processes, regulated R&D environments, industry best practices, and available market solutions. Maintain awareness of emerging laboratory technology trends and use that knowledge to shape a forward-looking product strategy.
  • Demand Management: Collaborate with senior business leaders, laboratory stakeholders, and cross-functional partners to manage and prioritise the product backlog based on business value, regulatory need, operational impact, and technical feasibility. Accountable for product cost forecast and investment planning.
  • Governance: Establish and lead relevant governance forums, provide oversight on priorities and delivery, and ensure clear decision-making across roadmap, service performance, value realization, and risk management.
  • Product Team / Project Delivery: Lead the design and delivery of laboratory technology products and services that support business strategy and scientific workflows. Accountable for creation and execution of the product roadmap, with a strong focus on user experience, data integrity, scalability, and business outcomes. Co-Lead the Lab Systems Community of Practice with the Business Lead, sharing key best practices with the wider Lab Systems user community.
  • Quality, Risk & Compliance: Ensure all products supporting laboratory operations align with internal security, risk management, continuity requirements, validation expectations, and external regulatory and statutory obligations including GxP and data integrity standards.
  • Feature Definition: Translate scientist, lab operations, quality, and business needs—along with industry trends and vendor capabilities—into clear product requirements and value-driven features that can be readily understood by delivery teams.
  • Service Management: Accountable for ensuring appropriate service levels and operational support models are in place for laboratory platforms and integrations. Oversee major incidents, escalations, lifecycle management, upgrades, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Work across internal teams - including the Supply Chain - and external suppliers to deliver reliable, compliant, and efficient laboratory solutions. Build trusted relationships with business stakeholders and vendor partners to drive delivery and performance.
  • Adoption Strategy & Change Management: Act as a change agent to help product teams and the business adopt agile ways of working and new laboratory capabilities, building momentum through clear communication, visible success stories, training readiness, and value-based roadmap storytelling.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Relevant and significant relevant experience in R&D technology, laboratory informatics, life sciences, quality, engineering, IT, or a related field, with exposure to product management in a major global IT organization.
  • Track record in successful IT strategy development, solution design, programme and project delivery, and service management across complex, cross-functional environments.
  • Experience delivering business impact through process and technology-enabled solutions that improve laboratory operations, compliance, user experience, and data quality.
  • Ability to understand the Users perspective and day-to-day need for tech in the Lab space and how to translate business requirements into tech solutions and improvements.
  • Show willingness to ‘GEMBA’ the User experience and capture key Voice of the Customer (VoC) information and translate this information into viable solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise laboratory systems and services, such as LIMS, ELN, Chromatography Data Systems, Stability, other laboratory applications, scientific data workflows, and system integrations.
  • Solid understanding of GxP, validation, and data integrity principles in regulated R&D or laboratory environments.
  • Experience of Agile and DevOps ways of working.
  • Experience of vendor management and working effectively with global internal and external delivery partners.
