Process Engineering Manager EMEA

The Process Engineering Manager is the technical authority for process and mechanical engineering in EMEA.

The role is accountable for process safety and machinery safety high‑severity engineering risks, defines and ensures compliance with Haleon facilities and utilities design standards, develops and implements global strategies, policies, training and tools, and collaborates with internal and external experts to support the process and machine safety strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the functional strategy for Process and Mechanical Engineering for EMEA.
  • Creates functional plans and drives strategic implementation for Process and Mechanical Engineering within EMEA, delivering targeted initiatives and programmes to reduce EHS and business risk, build capability and drive business performance.
  • Ensures that the EMEA manufacturing network invests in, maintains, and operates process and mechanical engineering infrastructure appropriately to protect our people, facilities and business.
  • Build process and mechanical engineering capabilities by developing site‑based talent, fostering cross‑functional and global networks, and partnering with external experts and audit firms.
  • Creates and drives strategic implementation through OU and site operational plans for process safety and machinery safety improvement and improving the resilience of site infrastructure and utilities.
  • Creates and deploys global Standards for Process Engineering, Facility and Utility Design and Machinery Safety across the OU QSC, R&D and Commercial locations.
  • Influences site leaders to ensure delivery and effective risk management.
  • Accountable for execution of design guides and global standard specifications.
  • Leads regional engineering audits to ensure compliance with internal standards, external regulations and effective risk management, while influencing site and OU leaders on the remedial actions required to drive continuous improvement and reduce EHS and business risk.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years leadership experience within a multidisciplinary team, managing process or mechanical engineering systems in a manufacturing setting, and ideally technical leadership experience across a group of geographically dispersed facilities.
  • Expert level understanding of the impact and criticality of process and mechanical systems within a manufacturing facility and adept at infrastructure lifecycle management.
  • Significant experience in facility and utility equipment in an FMCG or similar environment, particularly concerning machinery safety standards and process / mechanical design specifications.
  • Experience in driving change programmes in an FMCG manufacturing environment & partnering cross‑functionally to succeed.
  • Track record of building capability and developing others through coaching, mentoring and delivery of structured learning programmes.
  • Be adept at using data and information to inform prioritisation of activity, with a keen ability to deploy resources where it matters most and where it will make optimal impact.
  • Preferred Chartered Engineer status with the IMech E or similar body.
  • Certified Energy Manager.
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • Experience in managing and leveraging value from preferred vendors under various types of procurement contracts.
  • Strong negotiation skills including experience in working with Procurement and Legal teams.
  • A high degree of learning agility is needed to enable the job holder to quickly take on board new concepts relating to sustainability, as this is a rapidly evolving area.
