The Director, OH Category & Global Ingredients Procurement will have responsibility for Ingredients Procurement, and reports into Materials Procurement Senior Director. The role leads Procurement for Ingredients - a strategic area of the business. The role interacts with senior stakeholders in Materials and directly covers ~£250m in spend across ~30 material categories.
Additionally, the role:
- Develops strategic sourcing strategies for a defined portfolio
- Requires high cultural awareness
- Plans, leads and oversees negotiations
- Builds and delivers a Procurement strategy across global portfolio
- Creates and implements Procurement initiatives/strategies which improve quality of service and supply and produce significant cost savings across business units or supply networks
- Knows and utilises complex business processes in all Haleon supplier transactions, including all risk/regulatory/compliance requirements
- Understands and business partners the customer group in order to deliver relevant strategic procurement solutions
- Significant external supplier and market knowledge
- Leads, manages and develops a team of procurement managers to facilitate delivery of the primary role purpose described above
- Leads innovation procurement for OTC category and interfaces with category stakeholders esp. on input material and packaging innovations
In this role you will…
- Develop a comprehensive strategy for the procurement of Ingredients designed to ensure high quality of services and ensure Haleon’s competitive position
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to deploy strategies globally, facilitated by robust implementation and transition plans
- Generate value in terms of quality, delivery, and cost; contribute significantly to organization’s goals and objectives
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a spend of £250m by creating comprehensive global sourcing strategies, operating with a truly global and strategic mindset
- Build strategic relationships with a network of senior Haleon global stakeholders, to understand business requirements, identify opportunities to create value and to position Procurement’s value proposition. Align sourcing strategies accordingly
- Create compelling business cases for change and obtain approval to execute from Haleon Material Procurement and/or other support functions (Finance, HR) senior management, and to agree how benefit delivery will be budgeted
- Contract planning, negotiation, execution, interpretation and maintenance. Negotiate with suppliers and work with legal in bringing a contract from draft form to completion
- Deliver global benefits identified in strategies through effective strategy execution, aligned to assurance of supply (risk management), compliance, quality, service, cost and innovation
- Engage stakeholders, Finance and other relevant functions in the sourcing strategy delivery and execution
- Build strategic relationships with key suppliers at a senior level and lead processes to ensure value is driven from these relationships
- Ensure BU considerations are accounted for in supplier relationships
- Lead and direct category teams within scope of responsibility
- Build the organizational capabilities necessary to implement Haleon strategy, now and in the future
- Ensure appropriate communication strategy is in place and in use within the relevant Procurement and business customer networks
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree
- Preferred Level of Education: Master’s Degree
- 10+ years of work experience
- Area of Specialisation: Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, Finance
- Role requires ability to develop sophisticated procurement strategies in alignment with business needs. A strong understanding of business and financial analysis is a plus.
- Minimum Level of Job-Related Experience: Significant experience in procurement, leading teams
- Subject matter expertise in procurement area of Materials
- Highly developed business acumen with demonstrated success in delivering a multi-year strategy ensuring competitive commercial advantage
- Demonstrated ability to forge close business relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all management levels
- Contracting experience required, including a thorough understanding of contracting fundamentals and experience with contract planning, negotiation, execution, interpretation and maintenance
- Skilled negotiator adept at leading complex negotiations with both external and internal stakeholders
- Good understanding of market drivers affecting category; strong commitment to keeping abreast of trends
- Finely honed project and change management skills
- In depth understanding of latest tools for executing sourcing strategies
- Clear understanding of business value, business priorities, and potential implementation risks
- Experience managing the delivery of large projects and with end-to-end service / operations management
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
