About the role

The Product Manager: Formulation and Packaging is accountable for defining and delivering the product strategy and roadmap for Haleon’s core formulation and packaging, ingredient, and substance management capabilities across R&D. This role ensures the availability of authoritative, high‑quality formulation, packaging and substance data that supports innovation, product development, regulatory submissions, safety assessments, manufacturing readiness, and lifecycle management. You will act as the single accountable product leader for systems managing formulation and packaging compositions, ingredients, and substances—partnering with Formulation and Packaging Science, Safety, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, and Digital & Tech to enable compliant, efficient, and scalable R&D execution.

Role Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy & Scientific Enablement
    • Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for formulation, packaging, ingredient, and substance management platforms.
    • Enable end‑to‑end support for formulation, packaging and development, from early innovation through registration, commercialization, and lifecycle change.
    • Maintain deep understanding of formulation and packaging science, ingredient and substance data models, and how they are used across R&D, Safety, Regulatory, and Supply.
    • Track emerging industry trends and best practices in ingredient master data, formulation and packaging systems, and scientific data management, shaping forward‑looking product strategy.
  • Ingredient & Substance Data Governance
    • Establish systems that act as the single source of truth for: Ingredients, substances, and materials, Composition and formulation and packaging structures and, Specifications, attributes, and scientific metadata.
    • Enable strong data governance, including versioning, traceability, lineage, and controlled change.
    • Partner with Regulatory and Safety teams to ensure ingredient and substance data supports claims substantiation, safety assessments, and dossier readiness.
  • Formulation, Packaging & R&D Workflow Enablement
    • Support formulation and packaging scientists with fit‑for‑purpose digital tools that enable: Efficient formulation and packaging design and iteration, Clear visibility of composition and dependencies, and Reuse of approved ingredients, formulations and packaging.
    • Ensure seamless integration with adjacent R&D systems (e.g., regulatory, safety, lab, and portfolio platforms) to reduce manual handoffs and rework.
    • Balance scientific flexibility with compliance, standardization, and scalability.
  • Demand, Roadmap & Value Management
    • Own the product backlog and demand prioritization, working with senior R&D and functional leaders.
    • Translate business needs into a value‑driven roadmap with clear outcomes tied to R&D productivity, compliance, and speed to market.
    • Accountable for product financials, including cost forecasting and vendor management.
  • Product Delivery & Platform Evolution
    • Lead cross‑functional delivery teams to design and deliver robust, scalable formulation, packaging and substance systems.
    • Ensure solutions are user‑centric, intuitive, and aligned to how scientists actually work.
    • Deliver incrementally using Agile and DevOps practices, while maintaining long‑term architectural coherence.
    • Own platform evolution, including modernization, integration, and technical debt reduction.
  • Quality, Risk & Compliance
    • Ensure systems meet internal security, data governance, and risk management standards.
    • Where applicable, ensure alignment with GxP expectations and audit readiness.
    • Proactively manage data integrity, compliance, and operational risks related to formulation, packaging and ingredient systems.
  • Service Management & Lifecycle Ownership
    • Own the end‑to‑end product lifecycle, including run, enhancement, and retirement.
    • Ensure appropriate service levels, support models, and escalation paths are in place.
    • Lead resolution of complex Level 3 incidents impacting formulation, packaging or ingredient data availability.
  • Adoption, Change & Ways of Working
    • Act as a change agent, driving adoption of new formulation, packaging and ingredient capabilities across global R&D teams.
    • Support teams in adopting product‑centric, agile ways of working, with clear articulation of value and benefits.
    • Build strong engagement with scientific users through continuous feedback and iterative improvement.

Basic Qualifications

  • Significant experience across R&D, Formulation and Packaging Science, Regulatory, Safety, Manufacturing, or Digital & Tech.
  • Proven experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner for complex, enterprise‑scale platforms.
  • Strong understanding of formulation development, ingredient and substance data, and their role across the product lifecycle.
  • Track record of delivering business impact through digital enablement of scientific workflows.
  • Experience working in regulated R&D environments with awareness of GxP implications.
  • Strong experience with Agile and DevOps delivery models.
  • Vendor and partner management experience.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, including engagement with senior scientific and functional leaders.
  • Relentless focus on business outcomes, simplification, and data quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with formulation and packaging, ingredient, or substance management systems (commercial or bespoke).
  • Exposure to consumer health, pharmaceutical, or life sciences R&D environments.
  • Experience integrating formulation systems with regulatory, safety, lab, or manufacturing platforms.
  • Passion for science‑led innovation and enabling scientists through technology.
