The Global Content Governance and Risk Director is responsible for establishing and leading Haleon’s global content governance framework. This pivotal role ensures that all marketing content produced by the Global Content Factory is compliant, effective, and delivered at the speed of culture. The role sits in the Marketing Excellence Content Factory team and reports directly to the VP of Global Content Factory. It provides leadership over a team of two subject‑matter experts located worldwide, ensuring 24‑hour responsiveness to governance and risk requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a Global Content Governance Framework, designing policies, standards and workflows for content creation, approval, distribution and retirement that balance global consistency with local market agility.
  • Serve as the subject‑matter expert on global marketing regulations and compliance, translating changes in advertising standards, data‑privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) and requirements from agencies such as the FDA into actionable guidelines.
  • Drive simplification and standardisation of content approval, creating a tiered risk‑assessment process, building automated approval frameworks and tools to enable high‑volume production while protecting against compliance risks.
  • Team leadership: develop and manage a dispersed team of subject‑matter experts responsible for content compliance and risk management.
  • Capability development: collaborate with the Marketing Capability team and L&D to design, deliver compliance‑related training for employees at global and OU levels.
  • Lead external engagement and advocacy, representing Haleon in discussions with regulatory bodies, advertising standards councils and industry associations, monitoring external developments and adjusting the internal governance framework accordingly.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Significant experience in the consumer health, pharmaceutical or equivalent highly regulated consumer‑facing industry.
  • Expert knowledge of global regulations and laws for marketing consumer health products, including advertising standards, data‑privacy (e.g., GDPR) and agency requirements such as the FDA.
  • Proven record designing and implementing global content governance frameworks and end‑to‑end approval workflows in a large, matrixed organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience developing and implementing risk‑assessment models for marketing and communications content.
  • Experience leveraging technology to reduce human capacity strain and manage risk at scale.
  • Experience in people management and building globally dispersed teams.
  • Experience representing a company to external regulatory bodies, advertising standards councils or industry associations.
  • Experience supporting the development and delivery of capacity programmes related to compliance/governance for marketing functions.
