Job Description

JG Hale Group is a family run construction business which has grown rapidly to become one of the largest providers of social housing throughout South Wales. We are a multi award winning company delivering major construction projects on behalf of local authorities, housing associations, and private clients spanning across the housing, extra-care, education and commercial sectors.

We are looking to appoint a Development Manager to join our fast-paced team, to identify and manage the delivery of development opportunities in line with JG Hale Group’s ambitious development programme and growth aspirations.

Responsibilities

As Development Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

·       Acquiring development sites – identifying land for development, undertaking land and development appraisals and completing the acquisition process.

·       Engaging in negotiations with landowners, clients, local authorities and other stakeholders to secure land and development opportunities.

·       Developing high-quality, cost-effective developments which deliver sustainable communities and inviting places to live.

·       Keeping abreast of evolving Planning Legislation and Local Authorities’ Local Development Plans (LDP’s).

·       Undertaking due diligence to suitably match Package Deal opportunities with appropriate clients.

·       Manage the design process from RIBA stages 0-3, ensuring that planning, SAB, and all other legal compliance is achieved.

·       Appointing a design team to progress design, in alignment with client brief and KPI’s.

·       Coordinating all required surveys and reports.

·       Undertaking scheme due diligence, assessing viability in alignment with client’s budgets.

·       Leading Design Team Meetings; ensuring that schemes' progress in a timely manner through the design and planning process.

·       Working with our commercial department to develop a fixed price for a scheme; considering any risks identified during design development.

 

Essential skills

·       Experience and knowledge of the land acquisition process.

·       Excellent negotiating skills.

·       Ability to read and understand construction drawings and technical details.

·       Ability to use Microsoft Project.

·       Excellent organisational and communication skills.

·       Ability to manage multi-discipline teams.

·       Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple schemes simultaneously.

·       Experience of working in a similar role is a must.

·       Full UK driving license.

·       Knowledge of Welsh Social Housing Grant (desirable).

You will be based in the South Wales area. We are offering an extremely competitive salary depending on experience and skills. The role is full time and permanent, working 39 hours per week, with 33 days annual leave (pro rata and inclusive of bank holidays).
