REPORTING TO: Transport Manager
LOCATION: Larne
PURPOSE: To ensure that customer orders are delivered in a timely, safe, and professional manner using an HGV Class 2 vehicle fitted with a lorry-mounted crane, providing excellent customer service at all delivery points.
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Company or hired vehicle and trailer (where appropriate), HIAB/lorry-mounted crane equipment, and all product constituting the load.
KEY TASKS:
- To ensure that all customer orders are delivered safely, efficiently, and in a professional manner.
- To safely operate a lorry-mounted crane (HIAB) for loading and offloading goods in accordance with current lifting regulations and Company procedures.
- To ensure all necessary daily and weekly vehicle and crane checks are completed. Any defects must be reported to the Transport Office as soon as reasonably practicable.
- To ensure the vehicle is driven in a professional manner and in accordance with all legal requirements, including compliance with Digital/manual tachograph regulations and driver hours legislation.
- To ensure that every possible care is taken to protect the vehicle (including trailer where appropriate), crane equipment, and products in transit and during offloading.
- To carry out safe loading practices, ensuring loads are secured correctly and comply with road traffic regulations.
- As a representative of the Company, to maintain professional standards of dress, conduct, and customer interaction at all times.
- To complete deliveries in the most efficient manner possible, and to follow Transport Office instructions regarding routing and back-loads.
- To ensure all products are accompanied by appropriate documentation and that delivery notes are signed and returned promptly.
- To follow all Health & Safety policies, including safe systems of work, risk assessments, and lifting plans where required, ensuring the safety of yourself and others at all times.
- To participate in training as required by the Transport Manager (e.g. crane certification, CPC training, forklift, etc.) and attend Team meetings as necessary.
- To immediately notify the Transport Manager of any driving-related convictions or penalty points incurred.
- To work overtime and carry out other duties from time to time (including stocktaking or yard duties) at the request of the Transport Office, Directors, or Senior Managers. This includes a flexible approach to start and finish times outside the normal working day.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
- Strong commitment to Health & Safety
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Flexible and reliable approach to work
