Haldane Group is seeking an exceptional Business Intelligence Lead to own and elevate our business reporting function. This is a pivotal role where you'll serve as our BI subject-matter expert, working directly with the Chief Information Officer to shape how data drives decision-making across our group.
You will be the go-to person for all things BI, from developing dashboards that executives rely on, to empowering teams with self-service analytics. What you will do
- Own the BI Application
- Be the primary subject matter expert for our Phocas BI platform
- Design and build custom dashboards, measures, and data views
- Manage system governance, user access, and security roles
- Train and empower users to maximize self-service analytics capabilities
- Drive Business Reporting Excellence
- Develop, maintain, and optimise group-wide business reports and KPIs
- Partner with stakeholders across Finance, Sales, and Operations to understand needs
- Collate and validate data from multiple sources including ERP systems
- Ensure accuracy, integrity, and consistency across all business reporting
- Manage both scheduled reporting cycles and ad-hoc requests
- Lead Data & Analytics Strategy
- Serve as the central point of contact for all BI initiatives
- Collaborate across IT, Finance, Sales, and Operations to align data frameworks
- Identify opportunities to enhance data quality, automation, and efficiency
- Provide insights and recommendations that support business decisions
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting speed, accuracy, and relevance
- Champion Governance & Best Practice
- Maintain documentation of reporting standards and data definitions
- Establish and enforce data governance and BI best practices
- Lead data projects including integrations and data model enhancements
- Work with Phocas support to troubleshoot, test, and implement new functionality
What we are looking for
- Essential:
- IT or business-related 3rd level qualification OR 5 years business systems experience
- Experience with Phocas or comparable BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik)
- Strong understanding of reporting, dashboards, KPIs, and data modelling
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Proven ability to translate business needs into technical BI solutions
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience of project work and cross-functional collaboration
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong time management and organisational abilities
- Desirable:
- Experience leading BI/reporting initiatives or managing a reporting function
- Knowledge of ERP systems and data structures
- Project management qualification (Prince 2, MSP, PMI, PPM)
- SQL or database querying skills
- Experience in merchanting, manufacturing, or distribution industries
- Knowledge of project management life cycle
- Natural questioning approach with focus on continual improvement
- Comprehensive system and process documentation experience
