About the Role

The IAQ Technician is a pivotal new role dedicated to improving the health and safety of residential environments. You will be responsible for conducting on‑site diagnostic assessments, collecting environmental data to guide remediation services, and leading outreach efforts to identify eligible households. This role combines technical expertise in air quality monitoring—including radon and asthma triggers—with a passion for public health education. We’re actively hiring in Syracuse, Rochester, and Ithaca markets!

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Collection & Diagnostic Testing: Conduct comprehensive in‑home site visits to measure indoor environmental factors such as humidity, VOCs, particulate matter, and CO2. Deploy and analyze data to identify specific air quality failures.
  • Remediation Support: Identify sources of indoor pollutants and moisture intrusion to support the development of tailored remediation plans. Provide detailed reports and documentation of findings to the remediation team and the homeowner.
  • Outreach & Eligibility: Actively identify and recruit households for IAQ programs through community outreach and partnership networking. Evaluate client needs and program eligibility using standardized screening and navigation tools.
  • Education & Advocacy: Educate homeowners and community members on the relationship between indoor air quality and health conditions like asthma. Present complex air quality data in simple, actionable terms to help clients maintain a healthy home.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Technical Knowledge: Community Outreach or Indoor air quality knowledge preferred but not required. Must have a desire to learn new things and be willing to train in these topics.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for teaching diverse audiences and conducting community outreach.
