About the Role:
We are seeking an Optical Assistant Apprentice to deliver outstanding patient care. You will learn to provide expert advice, share knowledge on frames and fittings, and deliver ongoing care to ensure patients feel confident, comfortable, and cared for.
This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people, takes pride in offering honest advice, building trust, and being part of a supportive team. You will be given the necessary tools, time, and encouragement to perform your duties to a high standard, with collaboration being a key aspect of our work culture.
You will work with a dedicated Mentor and training provider to learn about the industry, support clinicians with the patient journey, and be involved in frame styling, lens choices, fittings, adjustments, and aftercare. You will be trained to offer tailored product knowledge based on each patient\’s visual and lifestyle needs, and support more complex prescriptions with team assistance.
Your daily duties will include greeting customers, understanding prescriptions, offering personalised product advice, and administrative tasks. The role will evolve over time, making it a dynamic and engaging position.

- Our working hours are 9am – 5:30pm
- We are a team of 8
- This role requires working Saturdays
- The train station is a 10-minute walk from the practice, with multiple car parks nearby
Training for the Level 3 Optical Assistant Apprenticeship includes:
- Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and Literacy (can be obtained during the course)
