About the Role
Steve Mayer Opticians is looking for a friendly, caring Optical Assistant to join our team. If you enjoy helping people and want to build a career in optics, this could be the perfect role for you. You’ll play a key part in delivering expert advice, supporting patients with frames, lenses, fittings, and aftercare, and making sure every visit feels positive and personal. We’re a community-centered practice, so we’re looking for someone who shares our passion for exceptional patient care. You’ll be part of a supportive team, with the time, tools, and guidance to do your job to a high standard, and opportunities to grow your skills through training and professional development, including Optical Assistant (OA) courses.
What you’ll do:
- Help patients choose frames and lenses suited to their lifestyle and needs
- Assist with fittings, adjustments, and aftercare
- Support more complex prescriptions with guidance from the team
- Keep displays, equipment, and consulting rooms tidy and professional
- Be a friendly, reliable point of contact for patients and colleagues
