About the Role & About Us
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Officer to join our Technical team at our Histon site. This role is essential in ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, legality, and consistency. You will provide hands-on technical support to Operations, monitor compliance across the manufacturing process, and play a key role in maintaining and improving our food safety and quality culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with food safety legislation, retailer standards, and internal policies
- Monitor manufacturing processes from raw material intake through to dispatch
- Identify, investigate, and elevate quality, safety, and compliance issues
- Lead and participate in product and raw material taste panels
- Support complaint, incident, and spoilage investigations
- Promote a strong food safety and quality culture across the site
- Maintain testing schedules with 100% adherence
- Technical & Operational Support
- Carry out product testing, material analysis, and operational checks
- Manage Quality Attribute Sheets (QAS), SOPs, and packaging standards
- Maintain laboratory equipment and calibration schedules
- Support troubleshooting and continuous process improvements
- Conduct audits and ensure GMP standards are upheld
- Use Quality Management Systems (e.g. QUOR) for reporting and compliance tracking
- Materials & Supplier Quality
- Investigate raw material and packaging non-conformances
- Support intake teams with delivery and quality issues
- Lead monthly supplier performance (SAR) reviews
- Manage stock control and non-conforming materials
- Continuous Improvement
- Support site Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Identify root causes of recurring quality issues and implement solutions
- Drive improvements in hygiene, efficiency, and product consistency
- Communication & Collaboration
- Work cross-functionally with Operations and wider business teams
- Communicate findings, risks, and corrective actions clearly
- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Support customer queries, certifications, and audits
About You
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated with a proactive and continuous improvement mindset
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Understanding of food safety, quality systems, and GMP (desirable but not essential)
Experience & Qualifications
- No formal qualifications required
- Previous experience in food manufacturing or quality assurance is advantageous
Working Conditions
- Based at Histon site (no regular travel required)
- Work across all production areas as needed
- Some manual handling involved
- Must adhere to all Health & Safety, GMP, and operational procedures
