We are looking for an Assistant Financial Accountant to join our Group Finance team based at Templar House. This is an exciting opportunity for a part-qualified accountant or someone qualified by experience who is looking to develop their career within a fast-paced FMCG environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the Assistant Financial Accountant will play a key role in supporting the integrity of the balance sheet, managing reconciliations, and ensuring strong financial controls across the UK business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and reconcile bank accounts for all UK entities
- Ensure intercompany accounts reconcile between divisions
- Reconcile stock accounts across all UK divisions and investigate discrepancies
- Prepare monthly accruals and prepayments
- Post and reconcile business recharges
- Maintain Capex forms within Smartflow
- Prepare and complete balance sheet reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve balance sheet differences
- Perform monthly reconciliation of the Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) balance, including reviewing aged items and closing purchase orders over nine months old where appropriate
- Provide cashier cover including payment uploads, allocations, and credit/debit note processing
- Investigate and resolve internal accounting transaction issues within CAS300
- Administer company credit cards and process related journals
- Support ad hoc finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives
Key Accountabilities
- Preparation of balance sheet folders for review by the Financial Controller/Head of Finance – 20%
- Review and analysis of balance sheet accounts to ensure compliance with accounting standards – 20%
- Monitoring and reviewing central overheads, including journal postings – 15%
- Managing central recharges – 15%
- Preparing audit files for year-end and SoX audit requirements – 10%
- Supporting budget preparation and quarterly forecasting for central overheads – 10%
- Cashier cover and bank account reconciliations – 10%
What We’re Looking For
- Part-qualified accountant or qualified by experience
- FMCG experience beneficial but not essential
- Knowledge of SoX and/or US accounting standards would be advantageous
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills

This role is based in LS15 with hybrid working available.
