Staffbase has been appointed to recruit a commercially driven Managing Director with strong sales acumen and outstanding leadership skills to take our client\’s business forward.
The Role
This is a \’hands-on\’ leadership role where your primary focus will be driving revenue growth, developing high-performing teams, and strengthening customer relationships. You\’ll take full responsibility for the commercial and operational performance of the business, reporting directly to the CEO.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the company\’s growth strategy, with a core focus on sales performance and market expansion
- Lead and motivate the sales team to achieve and exceed targets across existing and new markets
- Build strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders
- Foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative workplace culture
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring alignment with strategic goals
- Manage and ensure legal compliance
- Monitor financial performance and lead budgeting and forecasting
- Represent the business externally, enhancing the company\’s brand and market presence
Candidate
You will have proven experience in a senior sales or managing director role within a technical manufacturing environment (applicants in HVAC, air systems, filtration, or similar industry would be ideal).
You will demonstrate previous success in building and leading sales teams, securing major contracts, and growing market share.
Applicants will have exceptional leadership and communication skills to inspire, coach, and hold people to high standards. In addition, you\’ll have a natural talent for establishing & developing strong customer relationships.
Candidates will be commercially astute with a strong understanding of pricing, margins, and competitive positioning and negotiation skills.
We are looking for a strategic thinker who is consistently \’hands-on\’, visible & approachable within the business.
Preferably, you will be degree educated and/or have relevant industry experience with an excellent mechanical and electrical engineering background.
You\’ll be decisive, with the ability to make quick & well-informed decisions under pressure, adapt to ever-changing market conditions, and respond effectively to new challenges.
