Haggerty Jaques is proud to be instructed to recruit an Employment barrister to join a fantastic national team of Employment solicitors in-house.

This is a genuinely rare and innovative opportunity for a practising barrister to move in-house, working alongside a national team of Employment solicitors for one of the most well-respected law firms in the country. This award-winning firm prides itself on the working environment it offers its lawyers, who are collegiate, supportive, and refreshingly down-to-earth. You will be working on some excellent quality matters. The firm’s diverse client portfolio includes major national and international companies as well as large public sector institutions.

As an in-house barrister, you will be involved in an Employment case from the very outset, providing strategic advice that will help to shape how the case proceeds and undertaking all associated advocacy. Whilst your day-to-day work will be similar to that undertaken in Chambers, there are some key differences in the overall role, namely that you’ll:

  • have greater security and certainty as an employed member of the firm
  • have a guaranteed salary
  • be able to enjoy paid holiday
  • have access to the firm’s forward-thinking family-friendly benefits
  • work alongside your colleagues as part of a team
  • have early client contact and impact on the case
  • focus solely on Employment law

The Ideal Candidate

Our client is looking for a UK-qualified barrister with Employment law advocacy experience who was called to the Bar at least two years ago. The firm places huge emphasis on maintaining a great culture so we are looking for a team player who is passionate about their work and has strong people skills. This role could be based from a number of different locations across England, although being able to travel to Employment Tribunals around the South would be advantageous.
