The Business
This financial services sector business, which was founded thirty years ago, employs staff in both London and Toronto. Since its launch, it has advised on deals that have culminated in tens of billions of dollars of investment. Our client prides itself on creating an open, friendly and collaborative environment for its staff and on providing its clients with an outstanding and specialist service.
The Opportunity
This brand new role will involve you managing the lifecycle of commercial contracts used by the business, including the preparation, negotiation, implementation and administration of contracts, managing risks and optimising contractual relationships. The role will see you supporting an in-house team of client-facing analysts, as well as liaising with external lawyers. You can expect to be responsible for:
- Preparing (from templates), reviewing and finalising engagement letters and other contractual documents, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Taking the lead in contractual discussions with clients and their legal teams and negotiating the best terms and rates for the business.
- Identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with contractual agreements.
- Preparing and submitting proposals for clients on behalf of the business.
- Managing the contract lifecycle from initiation of engagement letter to project closure, including managing amendments and managing any disputes.
- Acting as the first point of contact for all colleague queries on commercial terms and conditions, obtaining advice from the company’s external lawyers as required.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior team members, clients and clients’ legal teams.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will hold a legal qualification (e.g. CILEX, LLB, GDL, LPC, SQE or equivalent) and will have at least 12 months’ experience of managing commercial contracts for a business or organisation. The team is particularly keen to hire a proactive individual who is personable, patient, credible, organised, and can work with precision.
