Job Description
In-House Commercial Contracts Paralegal β 8 Month FTC (Maternity Cover)
North Leeds | Hybrid Working | Competitive Salary + Benefits
November 2026 Start Preferred
Haggerty Jaques is working with a highly regarded, international professional services business to recruit a Commercial Contracts Paralegal for an initial eight-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of an extension.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with some existing commercial contracts experience to gain exposure to high-quality, international work within a genuinely supportive in-house team.
With projects and clients spanning the globe, the business offers the chance to develop your commercial awareness, work with a wide range of stakeholders and build valuable experience within a large, internationally recognised organisation.
Ideally, our client would like someone to join in November to allow for a handover before the maternity leave begins.
The Role
Working as part of an established risk and contracts team, you'll support colleagues across the business with the review and negotiation of commercial agreements, helping them manage contractual risk while keeping projects moving forward.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts, including agreements relating to international projects.
- Working closely with colleagues across different business functions and locations.
- Providing practical guidance on contractual terms and potential risks.
- Supporting internal contract approval and risk management processes.
- Liaising with insurers, brokers and external legal advisers where required.
- Helping the wider business find sensible, commercially focused solutions.
About You
We're keen to speak with paralegals or contract reviewers who already have some hands-on commercial contracts experience and would welcome the opportunity to broaden their exposure.
Ideally, you'll have:
- A law degree (2:1 or above) or equivalent qualification.
- At least 12 months' experience reviewing and/or drafting commercial contracts.
- Good attention to detail and a practical, organised approach.
- Confidence communicating with colleagues and stakeholders at different levels.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work as part of a busy team.
Previous in-house experience would be helpful but isn't essential.
Why Consider It?
There is plenty to make this opportunity appealing, even if you're not necessarily looking for a permanent move.
You'll have the chance to work with an international business involved in major projects across multiple sectors, gaining experience of commercial contracts and risk management in a genuinely global setting.
You'll also benefit from:
- A highly competitive salary and attractive benefits package.
- Exposure to varied, interesting commercial contracts work with an international dimension.
- The opportunity to develop your skills in a well-established in-house environment.
- A friendly, supportive and experienced team.
- Hybrid working and a good work-life balance.
- The possibility of the contract being extended beyond the initial eight months.
Location: North Leeds, with hybrid working available. Candidates will need to be within a reasonable commuting distance of the office.
