A 12-month fixed term contract opportunity with a major UK consumer-facing organisation, operating at significant scale and complexity. This is a hands-on Data Protection Manager role, ideally suited to someone who enjoys being close to the business, working at pace, and taking ownership of end-to-end privacy impact work. The role is expected to start in March 2026, so candidates who are immediately available or coming to the market shortly will be of particular interest.

You will be part of a well-established Legal & Compliance function, working alongside another Data Protection Manager, with access to Data Protection Legal support when required. The position offers a generous basic salary, together with a car allowance and a strong wider benefits package. While the business operates flexibly, candidates who can attend the Leeds office at least once per week are preferred.

THE ROLE

The focus of the position is the delivery and oversight of the organisations DPIA programme. You will act as a trusted point of contact for the business, guiding stakeholders through privacy assessments for new and evolving initiatives, identifying risks, and helping teams put appropriate controls in place. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Owning the day-to-day management of Data Protection Impact Assessments, from initial scoping through to completion
  • Acting as the first port of call for privacy queries connected to DPIAs and related processing activity
  • Working closely with teams across the organisation to gather, challenge and refine information needed to complete assessments accurately
  • Translating complex processing activities into clear, structured records within privacy management systems
  • Managing and tracking a high volume of concurrent assessments, ensuring deadlines are met and progress is visible
  • Maintaining and periodically reviewing Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs)
  • Supporting audits, assurance work and ongoing enhancements to the privacy framework
  • Assisting with the handling and assessment of data protection incidents and breaches
  • Contributing to the upkeep and development of privacy policies, standards and internal guidance

ABOUT YOU

We are keen to speak with candidates who already have solid experience operating in a data protection or privacy-focused role, ideally within a complex or fast-moving environment. You are likely to bring:

  • Demonstrable experience delivering DPIAs end-to-end
  • A recognised privacy qualification such as CIPP/E, CIPM or CIPT
  • Strong organisational skills and confidence managing competing priorities
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • A practical, solutions-focused mindset and a keen eye for detail
  • Comfort working with Microsoft tools and adapting quickly to new systems
  • Experience using OneTrust (helpful but not essential)
  • Previous people management experience is welcomed, though not a prerequisite

Above all, this role will suit someone who enjoys working collaboratively, is comfortable operating at pace, and takes pride in delivering high-quality, pragmatic privacy support to the business.
