Here for people. Here for communities. Here for you.

Make a difference every day as a Learning & Development Apprentice at Hafod. Start a new chapter at Hafod, whether you’re leaving education, returning to work, or looking for a career change. As a L&D Apprentice, you'll gain practical experience across the full learning and development lifecycle, helping colleagues across Hafod build their skills, knowledge and confidence. You'll work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful projects and support learning activities that make a real difference to colleagues, customers and communities. You'll also work towards a nationally recognised qualification, developing the skills and experience needed for a successful career in Learning and Development.

Please note: We're unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role. This is a 24 months full time (37.5 hrs) programme that will begin in January 2027.

What you’ll learn and how we’ll support you:

  • You’ll work towards a nationally recognised Level 3 CIPD Learning and Development qualification with one of our trusted apprenticeship training partners.
  • You'll gain hands-on experience across different areas of the Learning and Development team, including learning administration, operational learning and training, care services, support services, homes and communities, and head office functions.
  • You'll learn through practical experience while working alongside supportive and knowledgeable colleagues.
  • You’ll also benefit from coaching and mentoring and will have regular check ins to discuss your progress and next steps.
  • You’ll take part in our early talent development programme, joining a community of Hafod apprentices, helping you to grow both personally and professionally.

This role involves regular travel across our sites and services. While a driving licence isn’t essential, many of our locations are not easily reached by public transport, so being able to drive and use your own vehicle is often the most practical way to travel. If you use your own vehicle for work, you’ll need appropriate insurance (for example business use). If you don’t hold a licence or don’t have access to a vehicle, we’d still encourage you to apply. We’re happy to have a conversation with you about how you could still meet the travel requirements of the role.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting the full learning and development lifecycle, helping to identify learning needs, coordinate training and evaluate learning activities.
  • Completing rotations across the Learning and Development team to understand how learning supports colleagues across Hafod's services.
  • Coordinating learning activities, including booking training, preparing materials, maintaining learning records and supporting learners.
  • Supporting the design and delivery of engaging learning experiences, including creating learning resources and co-facilitating training sessions.
  • Contributing to learning projects and continuous improvement by using feedback and learning data to enhance programmes and resources.

What you’ll bring:

  • We’re looking for people who share our values and are ready to learn.
  • You don't need previous Learning and Development experience. What matters most is your attitude, willingness to learn and ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Have a genuine interest in building a career in Learning and Development.
  • Have good IT skills, including Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Value working as part of a team and understand that supporting colleagues is just as important as supporting customers.
  • Bring a respectful, caring approach and recognise the difference small actions can make.
  • Communicate well, with a willingness to listen, ask questions, share ideas and build positive relationships.
  • Take pride in doing things well and show a dependable, responsible attitude to both work and learning.

These strengths can come from education, work, volunteering, family or other life experiences.

Who can apply?

  • You’re aged 16 or over.
  • You have a minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths (A*-C).
  • You’re not studying towards another qualification when the apprenticeship begins, as this programme requires strong commitment to both work and learning.
  • You do not already hold a qualification at the same or higher level in the same subject area as this apprenticeship.
  • You can start the apprenticeship in January 2027.

If you’re unsure whether you’re eligible, please get in touch before applying. We’ll be happy to help.

Interested in applying? Submit your application online. Please include details of all relevant qualifications or training in your application. This helps us check that you meet the entry requirements for the apprenticeship.

We'll review all applications and if you're shortlisted, you’ll be invited to attend one of our relaxed and friendly assessment days, followed by a final interview at St Hilary Court, Cardiff. If you’re successful at the end of the recruitment process, we’ll offer you the role and begin your pre-employment checks. This includes confirming your right to work and completing a DBS check, which we’ll organise and pay for.
