Head of Sustainability – Powered Access & Equipment Rental
60k to 80k plus bonus and vehicle
Are you passionate about building a greener future in the construction and equipment rental world? We’re hiring a Head of Sustainability to lead our ESG strategy across a growing powered access business with a fleet that includes scissor lifts, booms, telehandlers, and MEWPs used on construction sites across the UK.
About Us
We’re a trusted name in the powered access and equipment rental sector, supplying leading construction, infrastructure, and industrial clients with reliable machines and first-class service. As demand grows and regulations tighten, we’re committed to driving real sustainability, not just box-ticking. This is your chance to shape and lead that agenda.
The Role
As Head of Sustainability you’ll work closely with the board to embed ESG principles into every area of the business from fleet strategy and depot operations to procurement, compliance, and customer partnerships.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Define and deliver our ESG and Net Zero strategy, tailored to the realities of powered access and heavy plant hire
- Lead carbon footprint reduction initiatives across our fleet, transport, energy, and supply chain
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation (e.g. ISO 14001, ESOS, SECR)
- Work with OEMs and suppliers to explore cleaner technologies (e.g. electric and hybrid MEWPs)
- Report on ESG performance to the board and key stakeholders
- Inspire internal teams and customers to support sustainability goals
What We’re Looking For:
- Industry knowledge: you’ll ideally come from powered access, plant hire, construction equipment, or rental services
- Hands-on experience building and executing ESG or sustainability strategies
- Knowledge of compliance, data collection, and reporting frameworks (e.g. GRI, CDP, ISO, Net Zero)
- Strong communication and influencing skills comfortable working with both depot teams and the boardroom
- Passionate about making real change happen, not just writing report
Why Join?
You’ll be joining a business that’s growing fast and serious about doing it responsibly. The role has the support of senior leadership, the freedom to shape the agenda, and the potential to make a real difference — both environmentally and commercially.
