JOB DESCRIPTION
This Functional Director role is a key member of the business leadership team, accountable for setting and delivering a planning-led supply chain strategy that enables excellent customer outcomes, sustainable growth and operational stability.
The role provides executive leadership across demand and supply planning, customer service, purchasing and supply execution, with planning excellence and customer service performance at the centre of decision-making.
The Supply Chain Planning Director will establish a mature, data-driven planning and governance framework that aligns customer demand, production capability, inventory and supply risk, ensuring the business can meet customer commitments consistently and respond proactively to change.
Through strong cross-functional leadership, the role will build a high-performing team and organisation focused on service reliability, planning discipline, adaptability and responsiveness whilst aiming to continuously improve processes and ERP systems.
THE ROLE
- Define and lead a planning-led supply chain strategy that aligns customer demand, operational capability and business priorities, ensuring service excellence remains central to decision-making.
- Establish and govern the executive planning framework across demand, supply, capacity and inventory, creating the cadence, visibility and control required to deliver reliable customer service and operational resilience.
- Lead and develop the planning, production administration and customer service teams, creating a culture of ownership, responsiveness, continuous improvement and customer focus.
- Lead the translation of demand into an achievable production and supply plan, ensuring robust planning parameters, accurate master data and effective use of LN10.8 to support service performance and execution discipline.
- Champion customer service excellence as a core leadership priority, setting clear service standards, owning executive escalation and recovery processes, and ensuring proactive communication where customer commitments are at risk.
- Oversee materials planning and purchasing for key categories β Production consumables and sub-contracting processes, ensuring continuity of supply, appropriate stock positioning, supplier collaboration and effective response to changing customer and production requirements.
- Own the design, implementation and ongoing maturity of the SIOP process, ensuring robust scenario planning and executive decisions that protect service, optimise inventory and support growth.
- Own the executive performance agenda through clear KPI governance across OTIF, backlog, forecast quality, planning adherence, inventory, supplier performance and customer satisfaction, driving accountability and sustainable improvement.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks across materials, capacity, logistics, quality and customer demand volatility, escalating issues with clear recommendations and recovery options.
- Lead supply chain transformation across processes, systems, organisational capability and ways of working, improving service performance, simplifying execution and creating greater resilience, agility and transparency.
- Act as the executive owner for supply chain systems and planning tools, including LN10.8, improving data integrity, planning discipline, reporting visibility and decision support.
- Influence and align senior stakeholders across Sales, Operations, Engineering, Quality and Finance to ensure clear priorities, strong governance and a unified approach to customer delivery and business performance.
- Manage budgets, resources and organisational capability across the supply chain function, ensuring the structure, talent and priorities support business growth and customer excellence.
- THE CANDIDATE
Education and Qualification(s)
- Degree (or EU equivalent) in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Operations Management or Business.
- ASCM/APICS certification such as CPIM or CSCP (preferred).
- Lean / Six Sigma certification (e. g., Green Belt) or proven continuous improvement training.
- Formal training in S&OP / SIOP / Integrated Business Planning (e. g., ASCM Supply Chain Planning Certificate) is desirable.
- ERP/MRP planning experience and related training (e. g., Infor LN / master scheduling / MRP) is desirable.
