Haddenham Garden Centre is a family-owned business which has been established for over 45 years. Our Farm Shop offers a selection of meats run by a local butchers, Beef Olive, a deli counter, freshly baked products, local and regional food, condiments and drinks.

We are looking to recruit an experienced Retail Manager to help develop our Farm Shop offering and oversee the day to day running of the department, ensuring product quality and superb customer satisfaction whilst maximising the department's profitability.

The role will involve:

  • Effectively managing and motivating the Farm Shop team
  • Product procurement – prioritising local suppliers and producers, ensuring the offering is relevant and seasonal
  • Championing and promoting local suppliers and producers, to set us apart from supermarkets and convenience stores
  • Stock management, replenishment and ordering. Managing the purchase order process and receiving of stock on our EPOS system.
  • Working to all HR, HSE, Food Safety, Environmental and Fire guidelines in line with company policy and current legislation
  • Ensuring merchandising displays are innovative, practical and maintained, and that these are refreshed on a regular basis in conjunction with our Visual Experience Manager
  • Ensuring the customer experience is second to none
  • Achieving departmental targets and individual KPI's
  • Looking to maximise all retail sale opportunities whilst minimising wastage

Requirements for the role:

  • Experience of food retail management, purchasing and product merchandising at a similar level.
  • Excellent knowledge of Food Safety and HACCP procedures
  • Excellent people management skills with the ability to lead by example
  • Strong commercial acumen with an understanding of KPI's and how to drive these with a real emphasis on sales, waste and margins to strengthen the Farm Shop's growth
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Be competent and confident with computer work with basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Be a real foodie, who is passionate about the products they sell
  • Experience in a Farm Shop or Deli with a good understanding of the "field to fork" ethos would be desirable.
