Your local, family-run, independent garden centre, restaurant and shop, Haddenham Garden Centre, is a family-owned business which has been established for 45 years. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and hands-on Farm Shop Assistant with a keen interest in food and drink to help assist the team in our Farm Shop and Deli. This role will be 15 hours a week across Saturday and Sunday.
The hours are:
- Saturday - 9am - 5:30pm
- Sunday - 9:30am - 5pm
The Purpose of the role:
The purpose of this role is to deliver excellent service to our customers through customer contact, replenishment and housekeeping activities whilst being flexible to help us meet the needs of our customers. This role will primarily be in our Farm Shop which will involve food handling and preparation as well as product retailing where excellent standards of service and hygiene are expected. As this is a customer-facing role, high standards of customer service are required as well as the ability to work as part of the team and be flexible in your duties to meet the needs of the busy Farm Shop & Deli counter. Whilst working in the Farm Shop you will also be required to comply with all food safety legislation, procedures and standards.
Are you the person we are looking for?
Above all, we are looking for a real people person with the ability to quickly build a good rapport with customers and colleagues alike. The role will involve operating our Deli scales and till systems; therefore, a basic level of IT literacy will be required as will the ability to learn and retain product knowledge. Experience in a retail or food handling environment would be an advantage although not essential as full training will be provided. The successful candidate must be capable of manual work as the role will involve bending, lifting and carrying a variety of products.
