This is a hands-on supervisory role, coordinating people, work, and resources to ensure production flows smoothly in a busy steel fabrication environment.
You’ll work closely with the wider operations team, providing clear day-to-day supervision, maintaining standards, and ensuring strong communication and handovers between shifts.
About Us
Had Fab is a leader in the design and manufacture of bespoke steel structures for the power, transport, and construction industries. As a key supplier supporting the UK’s 2030 net-zero goals and energy transition, we are proud of our track record in engineering excellence, quality, and innovation.
About the Role
As Nightshift Workshop Supervisor, you’ll oversee nightshift activity on the shop floor, making sure work is carried out safely, to quality standards, and in line with production schedules. You’ll manage priorities as they change, and act as the main point of contact during the shift. This role suits someone who enjoys being on the floor, solving problems as they arise, and keeping things moving.
What You’ll Be Doing:

- Plan, coordinate, and allocate work in line with the production plan, project schedules, and available resources.
- Monitor progress against schedules, adjusting labour and resources as required to meet deadlines.
- Assign tasks based on priorities, project requirements, and individual competency levels.
- Ensure compliance with MRP system usage to enable accurate project tracking, reporting, and KPI generation.
- Ensure all workshop equipment is maintained in a safe and operational condition through regular cleaning, inspection, and preventative maintenance.
- Raise and log maintenance issues through the Mango system and ensure clear handover to the maintenance team.
- Manage changes arising from project variations, engineering changes, or unplanned events.
- Ensure all quality documentation is completed accurately, reviewed, and stored in the correct systems and locations.
- Co-ordinate with supervisors from other departments, to ensure the flow of material and information from and to those departments is flawless.
- Establish and ensure that there are clear binary indicators set up to ensure the flow of material through the workshop.
- Act as the primary point of contact for nightshift workshop staff and escalate issues via agreed reporting channels.
- Attend meetings to discuss project updates, resolve issues, and plan future work.
- Carry out diligent handovers with the back-to-back supervisor to update on progress and issues that have occurred.
About You
You’ll be practical, organised, and comfortable supervising people in an industrial workshop environment. You’re confident managing a shift, prioritising work, and dealing with issues calmly as they arise.
You’ll bring:
- Experience supervising workshop or manufacturing operations (steel fabrication preferred)
- A strong understanding of health & safety and quality standards
- Confidence using MRP or production tracking systems
- Good communication skills and a calm, hands-on approach
- A safety-first mindset and attention to detail
Why Join Us?
