We’re looking for an experienced Materials & Inventory Coordinator to join our growing team and take ownership of material control across our manufacturing process.
From raw steel arriving on site, through production and galvanising, to finished product and dispatch, you’ll help make sure we have the right material, in the right place, at the right time. 🔩
Working closely with Production, Planning, Procurement, Projects, Yard/Stores, Quality and Logistics, you’ll play a key role in maintaining accurate stock information and keeping materials moving efficiently through the business.
What You'll Be Doing 👷
- Manage raw material requirements and call-offs in line with production schedules.
- Maintain accurate stock, material and storage-location records within STRUMIS.
- Monitor stock levels and identify potential shortages before they impact Production.
- Coordinate incoming steel deliveries against available storage capacity.
- Maintain material identification, barcode control and traceability.
- Track material throughout Production and to/from external galvanising suppliers.
- Coordinate the receipt and control of galvanised finished products.
- Support finished-product loading and client dispatch. 🚛
- Complete stock checks and investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Work across departments to improve material flow, reduce excess stock and minimise waste.
- Provide accurate updates on material availability, stock, capacity and dispatch status.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in materials, stock control, inventory, stores or logistics.
- Manufacturing, engineering or steel fabrication experience preferred.
- Experience using ERP/MRP or inventory-management systems.
- STRUMIS experience is highly desirable.
- Strong Excel and IT skills.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
- Confidence investigating stock discrepancies and resolving issues.
- Knowledge of structural steel, steel grades and material identification would be advantageous.
- Experience with galvanised or subcontract-processed steelwork would also be beneficial.
