As part of this continued expansion, we are now looking for an exceptional Head of Projects to lead our Project Management and PMO function across an increasingly diverse and complex project portfolio. This is a high-impact senior leadership role for an ambitious and commercially driven project professional who thrives in fast-paced engineering and construction environments.
Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping project delivery strategy, strengthening governance, improving operational performance, and ensuring successful outcomes across some of the company’s largest and most strategically important contracts.
THE ROLEAs Head of Projects, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership, governance, planning, and oversight of Had Fab’s full project portfolio — from tender handover through to final completion. With several significant contracts recently secured and a strong pipeline of future work, this role is critical in ensuring the business scales effectively while maintaining high standards of delivery, programme control, quality, and commercial performance.
Working closely with the Head of Estimating & Commercial, you will ensure seamless transition from pre-construction into project execution, maintaining alignment between commercial objectives, operational capability, programme performance, and client expectations. This role acts as a key strategic bridge between Commercial and Operations, ensuring projects are properly planned, resourced, governed, and delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead and develop the Project Management and PMO function
- Oversee major fabrication and installation projects from award to completion
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with programme, commercial, and contractual requirements
- Drive accountability, structure, and continuous improvement across project teams
- Maintain executive oversight of project risk, change management, and reporting
- Chair operational review meetings and provide strategic reporting to senior leadership
- Support business growth through delivery planning and operational scalability
- Build strong collaboration across Commercial, Operations, Production, and Site teams
- Protect programme performance, margin, and delivery standards across all projects
- Support the development of scalable systems, governance frameworks, and PMO processes to support continued company growth
We’re seeking a proven senior leader with extensive experience managing complex engineering, fabrication, or construction project portfolios.
- Strong background in steel fabrication, heavy engineering, industrial construction, or related sectors
- Proven experience leading large-scale or high-value project delivery functions
- Excellent programme management and planning capability
- Strong commercial awareness and contractual understanding
- Confident leadership style with excellent communication skills
- Ability to drive performance, accountability, and operational alignment
- Experience developing teams, systems, and governance structures during periods of business growth
- Proficient with project planning tools such as MS Project or equivalent
