Are you highly organised, detail-focused and experienced in managing engineering documentation?

Had-Fab is looking for a

Document Controller to support the successful delivery of our engineering and subcontract projects.

You’ll take responsibility for maintaining the accuracy, integrity and traceability of key project documents, ensuring everything is correctly controlled, accessible and aligned with company and project standards.

  • 📋 What you’ll be doing
  • Maintaining and administering a central document control system.
  • Managing engineering drawings, revisions and technical documentation.
  • Controlling subcontractor contracts, correspondence, purchase orders and Bills of Materials.
  • Tracking technical submissions, approvals, variations and change requests.
  • Ensuring documents follow consistent naming, version-control and metadata standards.
  • Maintaining accurate audit trails for changes and project variations.
  • Coordinating submissions and approvals across Engineering, Procurement, Project Management and Commercial teams.
  • Liaising with subcontractors and other external stakeholders.
  • Producing reports on document status, outstanding actions and compliance.
  • Supporting quality assurance activities, project audits and business-system compliance.
  • Providing guidance to colleagues on document control processes and best practice.
  • ✅ What we’re looking for
  • Previous experience in engineering document control, ideally within construction, infrastructure or energy.
  • A strong understanding of subcontractor documentation workflows.
  • Experience using systems such as

Aconex, Asite, Share Point or Autodesk Construction Cloud .

  • Good knowledge of version control, naming conventions and metadata practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • The ability to manage priorities and work effectively across multiple teams.
  • Clear and confident communication skills.

  • Experience with BIM workflows and document-control integration.
  • An understanding of engineering drawings and terminology.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality-management systems.
  • Familiarity with change-control and variation processes.
