We are looking for 2 x Medical Advisers to join the Benefits & Homeless Prevention Service. Someone who is willing to go the extra mile to help us build better lives for residents and give them the opportunity to live well in their home.

We are looking for a qualified allied health professional such as an occupational therapist, speech & language therapist, state registered nurse, physiotherapist, mental health specialist, autism specialist etc., to join the Medical Team situated within the Benefits and Homeless Prevention Team.
- You will be responsible for delivering and monitoring processes to enable the successful delivery of the business objectives of the Medical Team.
- Provide an effective, customer-focused, and fully accessible first point of contact service for service users who are living in unsuitable accommodation that impacts on their health/medical condition.
- Act as the focal point for expert advice and guidance on equipment assessments for disabled people and their carers and be responsible for all assessments and their outcomes.
- Responsible for identifying complex cases which require longer-term intervention and referring these to the OT service in the Adult Services Division.
- Contribute to the planning and design for wheelchair accessible units on new developments on the Estate Regeneration Programme and the Housing Supply Programme.
- Qualified healthcare professionals who have experience of providing a wide range of system-wide care, including diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, to improve the health and well-being of residents.
The Benefits & Homeless Prevention Service is very busy and fast-paced; working with a wide range of residents who need our support to deal with the complex challenges they face. It is also a great place to work, develop and learn.
At Hackney, we have taken an innovative approach to delivering the service by combining Benefits and Housing Needs functions. This gives us an opportunity to work together to help residents through their housing challenges using a holistic approach. We deliver some of the services jointly with partner organisations like Thamesreach to strengthen our offer.
You will be joining the service at an exciting time as we have embarked on an ambitious service redesign project that is exploring both digital and behavioural solutions.

The Teams: The Benefits and Homeless Prevention Service is made up of a variety of teams: Housing Register, Lettings, Downsizing and Regeneration, Medical, Temporary Accommodation Placements, Hostel Management, Income Collection, Housing Advice and Homelessness Prevention, Rough Sleeping Outreach, Reviews and Appeals Learning and Development, Legislation and Policy, Benefits Processing, Benefits Control, Benefits Subsidy and Housing Supply.
