Gas Engineer Position at Hackney Council
Salary: Up to £53,251 per annum at Band 9 (Starting at £46,943 at Band 7)
Hackney Council’s Building Maintenance Teams are expanding, and we are seeking qualified Gas Engineers to join our workforce. Your role will involve maintaining properties by performing servicing, repairs, maintenance, and installation of gas hot water and heating systems in accordance with the Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations 1998, amended 2018. You will also undertake multi-skilled repair activities, including minor plumbing, electrical, and finishing works to provide comprehensive service.
Applicants should have a reasonable level of physical fitness, as some tasks are physically demanding, requiring ladder climbing and lifting heavy objects. You should be able to work independently, manage your time effectively, and take pride in your work.
Experience in repairs and maintenance, possibly with a Housing Association, Local Authority, or as a contractor working in tenants\’ homes, is required. A full UK manual driving license with no more than three penalty points is necessary, as a work vehicle will be provided. Candidates should hold an NVQ, City & Guilds qualification, relevant trade experience, or an ACS Qualification. IT skills are also required for using handheld devices to record work.
