About Us

Ciao! We are Hackney Gelato. Founded by Sam and Enrico, two chefs who grew up in Italy, we are passionate about delivering authentic Italian gelato into restaurants, delis, cafes and shops across the land. We make all our gelato and sorbetto in small, carefully crafted batches. We’re proud to do things properly, just like the master gelatieri taught us. We’re looking for someone to join us as a Business Development Manager. The successful applicant will report directly into the Sales Director of Out Of Home (OOH), and should be ready to take on the challenge of bringing the very best gelato to the masses.

About the Role

We are a fast-growing business investing for continued exponential growth in 2025. The key purpose of this role is to support the Sales Director in the OOH channel, helping to identify and win new business across both existing and new customers in line with the strategy.

You’ll look after:

  • Building and converting a pipeline of new business in the Out of Home Sector across Leisure, Restaurant, Pubs, Accommodation, and Events channels.
  • Be the feet on the ground, engaging with customers and wholesalers to drive further sales opportunities.
  • Support the Sales Director with the daily management of existing relationships and drive sales within those accounts.
  • Some account management on selected newly acquired and existing accounts.
  • Organise and attend trade shows (sampling when required).
  • Complete new line forms and account set-up administration.

Skills & Experience:

Essentials:

  • Degree level or equivalent
  • Numeracy & organisational skills
  • Sales and negotiation experience
  • Evidence of winning new business in the OOH sector in a field sales or business development role

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with a major food service wholesaler like Brakes or Bidfood
  • Knowledge of ice cream category
  • Strong understanding of the food industry and UK food scene

  • Clear communication style with an ability to build strong relationships across different functions internally and externally.
  • Ability to act with pace and make quick decisions.
  • Can do/hands on approach.
  • Willingness to do things differently
  • Self-starter with good energy.
