Overview
We are now seeking a Sustainable Transport Planner to assist in managing and progressing the Liveable Neighbourhood programme across its next two years. The successful candidate will work alongside engineers, transport planners, senior stakeholders and, on occasion, elected members.
Key Responsibilities
- Project manage the continuation of two area‑based, healthy street schemes through consultation and implementation as part of the borough‑wide Liveable Neighbourhood Programme.
- Provide project support to the Liveable Neighbourhood programme manager, including delivery of diverse projects such as traffic management interventions, healthy street improvements, cycle network development, and exemption policy development.
- Collate and assess opportunities for change, develop and manage consultation and engagement material and events, and analyse evidence to inform decisions.
- Write clear and concise reports and consultation documents suitable for release.
- Engage with elected officials, occasionally outside normal hours, and liaise across disciplines at all levels.
- Analyse data using Excel, including PIVOT and LOOKUP functions, and apply GIS skills where possible.
- Support scheduling and budgeting, and identify opportunities to align project approaches with other work areas.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinking and decision‑making ability.
- Demonstrated leadership on project elements.
- Experience in project management and ability to organise and improve schedules and budgets.
- Familiarity with Excel functions such as PIVOT and LOOKUP.
- Knowledge of GIS – considered a substantial benefit.
- Comfort engaging with elected officials and stakeholders.
- Ability to write clear, concise reports and consultation documents.
