HEALS is a new service forming part of Hackney Education. It is our commitment to doing things differently for children and young people who are facing barriers to their learning. Some children experience social, emotional, mental health or physical needs that can impact school attendance; they need extra support to stay connected to their education and their friends. HEALS brings together specialist teams – including experts in mental health, teaching, and special educational needs – to work as one “wrap‑around” service. Our goal is simple: to make sure your child receives the right support, in the right place, at the right time.
Support Staff within HEALS will plan, prepare and deliver interventions for individuals and small groups. This includes assessing pupil progress, recording observations, providing feedback to teachers and adapting materials to support students with special educational needs (SEN). A significant aspect of the role involves promoting pupil and parental voice. You will be expected to organise and lead parent groups, attend Team Around the Child meetings and act as a representative for children and parents.
Responsibilities also include acting as a lead first aider at the HEALS Hub, supporting the induction and transition process for new students and assisting in the development of the curriculum. You will input and manage data regarding families and children using council systems.
This role will start on 2nd September, is term‑time only, and we have two positions available.
