The Apprentice Engineering Technician will train as an Engineering Technician through a structured 3‑year apprenticeship programme covering Civil Engineering activities. The role involves planning, programming, designing and implementing projects in four key areas: general traffic management, road safety, cycling and public realm improvements.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, programming and design of civil engineering projects.
- Support the implementation of projects to ensure they meet council policies and objectives.
- Attend college or university one day per week during the apprenticeship while completing workplace training.
- Prepare reports and presentations for project stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Level 2 or GCSE A*‑C / 4‑9 in Maths and English, or Level 3/A Levels (eligible for Level 4).
- No existing equivalent level Civil Engineering qualification.
- Must be able to evidence eligibility criteria.
Eligibility
- Current resident of the London Borough of Hackney.
- Current student at a Hackney education institution (school, college, university, PRU/alternative provision, Adult Learning provision).
- Former student at a Hackney secondary education institution with at least one GCSE or equivalent Level 2 qualification completed within the last 8 years.
- Current or former recipient of Hackney leaving care services.
- Hold a British passport or have UK government permission to live in the UK and have lived in the UK for at least the last three years.
