This post will include working on a rota which will be days, nights and weekends. An exciting and challenging position as a Community Safety and Enforcement Officer within our Community Safety, Enforcement and Business Regulation Service is available on a permanent basis.
As a Community Safety and Hackney Enforcement Officer, you will provide a visible uniformed presence across the borough and also be deployed on an area basis to understand and address localised problems, challenging and changing behaviours to contribute to the achievement of the Mayor’s priorities and the Council’s corporate objectives. You will be part of a broader and more inclusive service and will be responsible for undertaking enforcement action in line with legislation and Council Policies and Procedures, which may include but not be limited to the issuing of formal notices, fixed penalties, cautions and prosecution action.
The post holder will undertake a wide range of duties in relation to community safety, Anti-Social Behaviour, Licensing (Premises, Alcohol and Highways), street scene and environmental crime including noise abatement, environmental enforcement (Fly-tipping, Graffiti, Flyposting, and Littering etc.) and wider general public realm enforcement as required.
You will need a proactive approach, be driven and have excellent communication skills. Further, you will be required to successfully pass security vetting through enhanced DBS checks, local police intelligence checks, and Community Safety Accreditation Scheme and Metropolitan Police Service Security Clearance at the CTC (Counter-Terrorism Check) level. You must be able to undertake duties working on a shift basis including night work and work in a wide variety of weather conditions.
We need someone with experience of dealing with environmental crime and anti-social behaviour, preferably within a public sector background. To thrive in this role, you should be used to working in partnership with the Met Police and other partners. You should be a confident communicator, able to handle sensitive issues and engage vulnerable people.
