Your Impact

Do you have experience in electrical and avionics installation design? Leonardo are looking for a Senior Electrical Installation Designer to work at our Helicopter Division, based in Yeovil. Working as part of a large team in the UK you will also collaborate with our Italian colleagues at our other sites, giving potential opportunities to travel. You could have the prospect of working on our aircraft for design support activities; this could be in the UK or around the world. At Leonardo Helicopters we are responsible for the design of the complete air vehicle and working within the team you will have the ability to participate in all phases of the product design life cycle from participating in leading edge innovation to supporting aging aircraft.

What You’ll Do As An Electrical Installation Designer

  • As part of the Electrical Installation Design Team you will be responsible for the wiring and installation of the electrical and avionics systems, for our wide product range encompassing conventional helicopters, tilt rotors and unmanned air systems.

You Will Also

  • Assist in the capture and decomposition of electrical installation requirements for any avionic, electrical or mission equipment.
  • Carry out design activities required to define and integrate the wiring and harness design and installation, including harness routing definition, design and installation of avionic bays, instrument panels and electrical panels.
  • Produce the installation and harness solution in accordance with the company standards using 3D CATIA and Wiring Design Tools.
  • Provide input and support to the manufacturing and procurement processes and systems.

What You Will Bring

  • A degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Avionic, Electronic, Electrical Engineering) or HNC/HND/BTEC and Apprenticeship.
  • The ability to plan and execute tasks to achieve timescales and costs.
  • The ability to make technical decisions based on sound engineering judgement.
  • Knowledge and experience of electrical and avionic system installation and wiring design.
  • Wiring and harness specifications and design methods.
  • Detailed knowledge of design tools - Catia, PLM Systems, Enovia, Wiring design tools.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of the relevant airworthiness regulations.

Advantageous In This Role Are

  • Evidence of working in a regulated environment with knowledge of airworthiness regulations.
  • Good understanding of the aircraft manufacturing process.
  • Background knowledge of electrical, avionic and mission system design.

Security Clearance

You must be eligible for full security clearance.
