The role will focus on developing a holistic view of HSBC’s engagement with Microsoft, with particular emphasis on Microsoft’s AI ecosystem, identifying priority workloads and opportunities across the Bank, and helping shape where Microsoft should engage and invest to support HSBC’s strategic technology, innovation and AI transformation objectives. In This Role, You Will:
- Lead HSBC’s Group strategic AI partnerships with strategic technology providers, frontier labs and AI companies critical to HSBC’s AI strategy.
- Lead the AI partnership strategy for HSBC Group.
- Lead a group-wide patent & technology research strategy, and strategy for academic engagements.
- Identify strategic pursuits, disruptors and put in place defensive measures to protect the future of the bank.
- Deliver common innovation platforms, capabilities, tools, and best practices.
- Drive a culture of innovation through talent upskilling, innovation challenges, and external FinTech events.
- Deep dive into Microsoft AI workloads: Build a clear, structured view of Microsoft-related AI workloads, capabilities and engagement areas across HSBC, working across business and technology teams.
- Engage senior stakeholders: Conduct structured engagement with senior stakeholders across the Bank to understand priorities, demand, opportunities and areas where strategic partnership activity can support delivery.
- Develop a holistic engagement view: Consolidate inputs into a coherent view of the Microsoft relationship, including current activity, future opportunities, priority themes and areas requiring coordination.
- Shape AI partnership priorities: Help define where Microsoft should focus engagement, investment and support across HSBC, aligned to business value, technology priorities, commercial opportunity and responsible AI adoption.
To be successful in this role you should have the following skills:
- Strategic technology partnership experience: Experience working with large-scale technology partners, ideally including Microsoft, and translating partnership activity into business, technology, commercial and transformation outcomes.
- Microsoft AI ecosystem knowledge: Detailed working knowledge and hands‑on experience of key Microsoft AI tools and capabilities, including Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry / Microsoft Foundry, Agent 365, Power Platform, Dataverse, Microsoft Graph, Azure OpenAI and related security, identity, governance and commercial constructs.
- Microsoft delivery and commercialisation experience: Practical understanding of how Microsoft AI capabilities are architected, deployed, governed, adopted and commercialised in large enterprise environments, gained through direct platform delivery, strategic advisory, systems integration, technology consulting or equivalent experience.
- Financial services technology awareness: Understanding of enterprise technology adoption in a regulated financial services environment, including governance, risk, security and operational considerations.
- Commercial and strategic analysis: Ability to assess opportunities, structure recommendations, identify value drivers and prioritise engagement areas based on strategic relevance and deliverability.
- Enterprise AI strategy experience: Experience shaping or contributing to AI strategy in a large enterprise is desirable, particularly where it involves responsible AI adoption, operating model design, platform strategy, workforce enablement or transformation at scale.
- Executive-level communication: Proven ability to produce concise, high-quality written materials and communicate complex technology topics clearly for senior audiences.
