We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Governance Manager.

HSBC’s Data & Analytics Office (DAO) drives a data‑led culture by strengthening data management policies and governance to ensure data is trusted, high quality, and compliant, while also building capability through training and on‑the‑job development so colleagues can protect data and unlock its value.

You’ll sit in the Governance team within the Chief Technology Office (CTO) in the COO function and are cross‑function, covering governance, function management, and change delivery to help realise benefits such as improved customer and colleague experience, revenue growth, better risk management, capital optimisation, and cost reduction.

  • In This Role You’ll
  • Support oversight of all Board requirements required for the Group Chief Data and Analytics Officer (GCDAO) to govern Data & Analytics, preparing appropriate papers and materials where required.

Lead engagement with senior leaders to ensure that appropriate approvals and signoff of material is in place.

  • Design high quality presentations and visuals suitable to diverse range of audiences.

Ensure consistency in messaging and content across deliverables throughout CTO COO and DAO, locally and globally.

  • Support in leading the smooth running of the DAO Governance process to enable GCDAO and the senior data leadership team to govern Data & Analytics for the Group (Internal and External).
  • Lead strategic initiatives within DAO Governance and for the wider CTO and DAO organisation, helping develop a community of data professionals and involvement in activity relating to the data strategy and coordination of wider CTO, Data and governance activities / deliverables.
  • Lead the end‑to‑end process of project delivery from Strategic Planning to Implementation, Execution and Transitioning to BAU.

Supporting the delivery and management of projects using both Agile and Waterfall frameworks, input into process design and PMO reporting.

  • Support the Head of Governance to provide industry insight for the GCDAO and Leadership Team to remain aware of critical Industry changes.

This will include gathering/cataloguing one‑off and regular industry insights and trends, monitoring the regulatory landscape, industry analysis and scanning, and secondary research.

  • Play a role in leading the continuing development, implementation, and improvement of processes across CTO COO and DAO.
  • To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements
  • Proven experience producing Board / LT ready papers and packs (clear narrative, crisp recommendations, and decision‑focused structure).

Strong visual communication – slide design, storyboarding, executive summaries and consistent messaging across deliverables.

Ability to translate complex governance / data / technology messages into simple compelling messages for mix audiences.

  • Familiar with regulatory environments and strong governance practices (risk, issues, dependencies, reporting).
  • Ability to ensure submissions meet required standards (e. g. completeness, evidence, risk/issue articulation, dependencies, impacts).

Management of relevant governance committees.

  • Strong experience managing a high‑volume workload of concurrent requests and ad hoc projects, often with short lead times and shifting priorities.

Ability to triage and prioritise incoming asks.

  • Confident engaging with Chief/Head of Data & Analytics and translating data‑platform progress, risks, and decisions into clear board‑level updates.
  • Demonstrated track record delivering outcomes through cross‑functional teams, ensuring quality, timeliness, and controlled execution.
  • Ability to balance urgent requests with strategic priorities, making trade‑offs visible and agreed.
  • Comfortable operating in a large, complex organisation with limited PMO support and multiple senior stakeholder layer.
