We are looking for a Senior Automation Test Engineer to join our team to help us deliver a large scale systems integration programme. Applicants will either have SC Clearance, or be eligible for that clearance level, and have experience of testing a safety critical or high integrity system.
As part of an integrated team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of automated test activities as assigned by the Test Lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for interfacing with a diverse team to support agile development efforts, and with Customer stakeholders to design, create and execute tests. The role will require the ability to effectively communicate with all members of the team, ranging from technical personnel to programme leadership.
The role includes executing tests across a variety of software products and network & infrastructure configurations and identifying and managing defects.
Working Within a Team Of Testers, Duties Will Include:
- Reviewing of requirements and design documents to generate Automated Test Cases including identifying test data and defining test environment needs;
- Creating and reviewing test plans and test designs, working with third party suppliers to ensure requirements coverage;
- Preparation and Execution of Automated Test Cases using a range of test techniques and technologies to fully functionally test across the software, network and infrastructure solution stack at all levels;
- Preparation and Execution of Automated Test Cases to test the system and non-functional requirements;
- Producing Test Reports and report on interim progress;
- Documenting of test results and any defects;
- Reporting progress, risks & issues to Team Leads;
- Identifying and managing defects, including classification, reporting and confirmation testing;
- Investigating issues and working with suppliers to identify root cause and resolution;
- Analysing data and test evidence from suppliers to show compliance to requirements;
- Identifying improvements in new and existing processes.
Required Skills:
- Strong test experience (including ISTQB Foundation Certificate in software testing), a period of which in systems and integration testing of IT solutions;
- Hands‑on experience of automation tools such as Robot Framework, Selenium, JMeter, Appium, SoapUI, Cucumber, Ranorex, PyCharm, GITLab, Sikuli, Jenkins, Javascript;
- Demonstrable Testing experience with IT Systems and Services;
- Excellent understanding of the Testing Lifecycle and the different types of testing such as Functional, Non‑Functional and Integration Testing;
- Demonstrable Systems Integration experience including integrating 3rd party systems or components;
- Experience of creating Test Cases based on requirements and design documents;
- Experience of both manual and automated testing and how to apply these to IT application and infrastructure solutions;
- Minimum of 4 years experience of both manual and automated test tools and techniques, and how to use these to verify IT application and infrastructure solutions;
- Familiarity with agile software development processes and products (continuous integration/continuous development pipeline, release and sprint planning, product backlog management/refinement, retrospectives, etc.) and SecDevOps;
- Strong oral and written communication skills - ability to communicate with technical and non‑technical team members;
- Self‑motivated and willing to speak to colleagues to find out missing information;
- Ability to identify, troubleshoot and debug issues across interfaces;
- Ability to analyse and review test evidence from suppliers;
- Enthusiastic, proactive, troubleshooting attitude with a willingness to learn new technologies.

Pay Range: £47,600.00‑£61,000.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
