Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money. Our mission is to make the lives of people and businesses easier and save them money, whether they are sending money across borders, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments.

We are looking for a Software Engineer with a strong product and engineering mindset to join our Treasury FX Risk team. Our team calculates FX risk from trading foreign exchange to meet Wise's liquidity needs and manages mission‑critical services that provide accurate real‑time risk calculations and aggregate market data from platforms like Bloomberg and Reuters. In partnership with Data Science, we also ensure risks are hedged accurately and dynamically. You will help create a real‑time view of Wise’s global financial positions, translating transactions into actual and forecasted money movements. Trading teams rely on our data to manage FX exposure and execute trades worth tens to hundreds of millions of pounds, so reliability and scalability are our top priorities.

We operate on a strong belief in automation, programmatic implementation, and reusable design. We look for people who can think holistically about the ecosystem and also follow through to help implement the design, drawing on resources across the rest of the treasury tribe. As we grow, we focus on availability, security, and user experience while continuously refining our services.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Improving the scalability and reliability of our exchange rates infrastructure
  • Designing and implementing real‑time data streaming flows to enable real‑time monitoring of metrics related to financial risks
  • Tackling challenges related to processing large data volumes, addressing performance bottlenecks, and implementing fault‑tolerant solutions
  • Gaining in‑depth expertise in finance and treasury domains and contributing to the management of Wise’s financial infrastructure
  • Collaborating deeply with Operations, Analytics, Trading and Product teams to align technical and business objectives

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Java and Spring Boot
  • A strong sense of ownership and excellent communication skills to drive cross‑team projects
  • Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player, frequently engaging in cross‑team efforts
  • Skill in breaking down complex projects into incremental milestones that deliver customer value
  • Curiosity and a drive for continuous learning and improvement
  • Adherence to and advocacy for best coding practices, continuous delivery, and code reviews
  • A proven track record of leading technical initiatives and mentoring other engineers
  • Good discipline and skill in producing written documentation and diagrams

Benefits

  • RSU’s in a growing company
  • An annual self‑development budget
  • Statutory maternity leave, with 18 fully paid weeks of parental leave for birth or adoption
  • Paternity leave for 18 weeks at full pay
  • 3 fully paid ‘me days’ per year to help you manage life
  • Relocation and visa expenses covered
