We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Business Expense Management team. You’ll own everything related to the process of tracking, submitting, and managing business expenses as smoothly and hassle‑free as possible. We help businesses collect receipts and information about expenses in the most convenient way, so our customers can focus on their work. You’ll have an opportunity to build solutions that help employees easily submit their expenses, ensure compliance with company policies, make expenses transparent for monitoring and keep bookkeeping clean.

Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable services.
- Produce public-facing APIs for others to integrate with.
- Collaborate with teams across Wise to deliver real impact and expand the functionality we can offer to our partners on our platform.
- Work closely with other members of the team to solve complex problems.
- Advocate best practices, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior engineers.
Qualifications:
- Experience in designing, building public API platforms that others integrate with.
- Strong understanding of Java with experience with Spring Boot.
- Experience with microservices and event-driven design.
- Worked with Kafka or similar messaging systems.
- Knowledge of relational databases; SQL query optimisation and designing schemas is a plus.
- A strong product mindset and sense of ownership to enable you to make the best technical decisions and prioritise your work.
- Great communication skills to drive projects across teams and be able to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Able to work independently while still being a good team player.
